This weekend, the girls volunteered at two different events.
The first was the tenth annual Crystal Ball Gala, hosted by Casa de Amparo. Casa de Amparo’s main cause is to provide support and a safe haven for abused and neglected children. Huli, Edilynne, and Jelyca helped set-up Friday afternoon, for the event taking place on Saturday evening. Some of the tasks they attended to included organizing the items to be auctioned, decorating displays, and putting together gifts, giveaways and grab bags. The auction was a new and fun experience for the ladies, and we plan on working hand in hand in the future with Casa de Amparo.
On Sunday, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation held their annual Walk for a Cure on the UCSD Campus. A total of seven ladies attended for the morning event. Though we were asked to do something other than what was assigned to us, we worked and had plenty of fun. We were unable to sign up to take place in the actual walk but we look forward to participating next year.
This weekend’s events, though planned fairly last minute, still proved to be great bonding time between the ladies and a great connection and contribution to the community. KPDL is definitely racking up philanthropy hours, in hopes of becoming more credible and respectable, as we try and make our way into the Greek community.
